If you’ve read my About Me, I’ve previously mentioned that I started this blog in 2018 and gave up on it after drafting 3 posts. I’d always had the desire to put life back into this, but that never happened…until now. Due to everything that is going on in the world in dealing with the attack of Ms. Rona (COVID-19), writing about my past travel experiences has been an outlet for me. Due to travel restrictions and for the safety and health of others and myself, I’ve had to cancel my Spring Break trip for 2020 like many others have had to do 😦 If things continue to get worse, my other travel plans could also be impacted.
In April, I would’ve been flying out to Vietnam for my annual solo international trip. For 6 days, I would’ve been exploring the cities of Hanoi, Da Nang, Hue, and Hoi An. I’d already begun planning out my itinerary, my flights were booked my flights (which I’m working on getting refunded – VietJet isn’t cooperating at the moment), and I’d booked my hotels (which have been refunded). For the first time ever, I bought travel insurance. Guess what I was told by the travel insurance company when I realized in the early days of possibly canceling my trip? They basically said that coronavirus isn’t covered…*eye roll*
On the brighter side, I now have time to do a little more research about Vietnam. Once things settle down, I will be able to find another time to go and possibly more time to spend there and visit other cities. Also, by writing about my past adventures, I get to relive and reminisce about life pre-Ms. Rona. Even though I have to stay put for now, I can continue to save the money that would’ve been spent on this trip.
For all of the travelers out there who are stuck at home due to travel restrictions, hang in there! Use this time to plan future trips, read books about a place that you’d like to travel to, or watch a travel/food show on Hulu or Netflix. I’ll have more time on my hands over the next few weeks and will share a few suggestions to get you through this time. Remember, this is only temporary! Try your absolute best to find the silver lining!
